Steelers Announce Captains

September 06, 2010 By: Tom Category: Players

Captain's Patch

The captains for this years Steelers team have been announced, and in this year’s edition there is one notable exclusion in Ben Roethlisberger. Noteable but hardly surprising since his antics will most likely put the Steelers in a serious hole coming back from the bye week in week 6 of the season. Named offensive captains this year were wide receiver Hines Ward and tight end Heath Miller. The defense selected linebackers James Farrior and Keyaron Fox. I thought the selection of Fox was a nice touch for someone who is not a big name player.

Polamalu’s Hair Insurance

August 30, 2010 By: Tom Category: Players

Today shampoo maker Head & Shoulders announced that it has insured Troy Polamalu’s hair for 1 million dollars. In their news release they quote Troy as saying, “”Head & Shoulders has gone above and beyond this year by insuring my Samoan locks for a cool $1 million.” For those that don’t know Head & Shoulders is a dandruff shampoo – draw your own conclusions…

NY Times Article

July 30, 2010 By: Tom Category: Players

There was an article on Ben Roethlisberger in the New York Times the other day that is certainly interesting reading. I goes back to his early years, high school, college, and time in Pittsburgh. Quick summary is once a jerk, always a jerk.

When it Rains it Pours

Chirs Scott

More bad news today for the Steelers offensive line. Willie Colon is schedule for surgery on his Achilles injury tomorrow, so yesterday’s early reports were true and you can scratch Colon for the season. Also offensive tackle Chris Scott hurt his foot last week during a training session and will also be going in for surgery.

According to Steelers director of football operations Kevin Colbert. “Rookie offensive lineman Chris Scott suffered a foot injury while working out at the University of Tennessee last week. As stated earlier, Willie Colon suffered an Achilles injury while working out on Monday. Both were evaluated by Steelers’ medical personnel today and they are scheduled for surgery on Wednesday. We will have further information regarding both once we know the results of each of their surgeries.”

BREAKING NEWS – Another One Bites the Dust

June 28, 2010 By: Tom Category: League News, Players, Whirlpool Squad

According to the National Football Post, Steelers offensive tackle (and one of my favorite targets) Willie Colon has injured is Achilles tendon during a workout session. If this report is true, Colon would most likely be finished for the year. Hopefully that makes my ideas about Flozell Adams and/or Logan Mankins more realistic…

KDKA Roethlisberger Interview

June 10, 2010 By: Tom Category: Players, Police Blotter

Hot off the press is the first part of Bob Pompeani’s interview with Ben Roethlisberger. Same questions, same order as WTAE. Think there may have been a script handed to the talking heads? The link for part 2 of the interview is here.

WTAE Roethlisberger Interview

June 10, 2010 By: Tom Category: Players, Police Blotter

This is comical.  Sally Wiggin could not look more uncomfortable doing this interview. As predicted total softballs for questions. The general gist of Ben’s comments was the he was “young, dumb, and stupid” over and over again. No he does not have an alcohol problem and the good news is that he has now apparently joined the ranks of adults.

I wonder if there was some sort of agreement between networks and Beer Bong’s camp of advisers that there would be nothing difficult to answer. Maybe WPXI (the other major network in Pittsburgh) would not sign up to those terms and therefore didn’t get an interview.
